A large pile of dirt! Where is it? If anyone knows let me know then I can tag it.
Jerry in CA

Jerry, since nobody else has mentioned it, that "large pile of dirt" is obviously a volcano. If you were flying over the USA, I'd say it's one of those in Oregon or Washington. Please let me know if I'm wrong. Or are you pulling our collective legs?

Nice work Pat.

Wise words. Fortunate circumstances of birth are just the luck of the draw. Any of us could have just as easily been born on the run from crazed war lords and cheap bandits.

And here's some really "new" earth: lava flowing on the Big Island (that was 12-years ago, but still new relatively speaking ).
I've got to say, walking out to the lava flow has to be one of the coolest things I've ever done.

.
....

Lava flow later that night.

I wanted to create a new photo for Earth Day in lieu of pulling from the database. Its a rainy damp cool day with very little green here in central Wisconsin. I noticed that the Hostas are coming up so I grabbed my extension tubes, camera, and tripod.

Interesting slant, Steve!

Since Karin enjoys dirt paths, I thought she might find this one interesting, although those stairs were a bit challenging.

I did enjoy this scene Richard, those steps and the fence along side of it add interest, too.

Yes, have more: First 3 are of Sandy Ridge Reservation showing an abundance of native wildflowers and plants. The shell is nature's art, the squirrel and deer depend on earth's bounty.
