I am looking for an application that will allow me to put text on my photos. Something other than paint. Thanks.

I use Photoshop Elements, and it is easy as can be to put text directly on the photos.
Or to make a "text image" on a transparent background and place that on the photo (drag and drop, then resize to make it suitable size for the photo).
Or to make a brush of the text and simply place it on the photo. Where you want it, in the colour you want and in the size you want.

I use Photoshop. Then save it under a different file name.

If you keep the text on a layer, you don't have to save it as a different file. You can turn the text off and on and needed.

In addition to Photoshop and Corel, there are screen capture programs that can do this as well. I use Snagit.

There is a free version, but I already paid for the full version, so I don't know what it is missing.

Photos For macOS has an extension named "Markup" for adding text, arrows, etc. to photos.

If you use a Mac - good old Preview has a very good Annotate feature and you can add text, as well as other "markup" info. Preview is native and is include as an integral part of OS X.

Thanks for the tip. I already own SnagIt but never thought of using it to simply add text to an already existing photo (Lightroom Export). This method has the advantage of keeping it outside the production loop for the one or two photos I might want to label. Thanks, Bob
