To my renal shame I have to hold up yhands and admit I have never checked the af focusing on my d7100 I assumed they were calibrated when they were made,is it that likely mine is out ! As that shot was single centre pointed focused !
Sounds a complicated job, could a thick one like me manage it ?

It's very common for there to be focusing errors with phase detection AF. Due to manufacturing tolerances you will often get camera and lens combinations that back or front focus. When your camera is in live view mode it's using its contrast detection autofocus. There are no focusing errors when using live view mode because the camera adjusts the focus until it achieves the highest contrast at the sensor. Take some shots in live view mode (contrast detection AF) and compare them with photos taken when using the viewfinder (phase detection AF). I use this device to check for AF errors.

It's not difficult to do AF fine tuning. Your camera will store AF fine tuning adjustments. It will read which lens is mounted and recall the adjustment for that specific lens.

Thank you. We still miss him, but try to focus on the good memories. His sister looks a lot like him, but have not gotten a great picture of her!

I agree - our kitties are special, and take good care of us, just as we do of them! Unfortunately, my boy succumbed to chronic illness. But his sister is doing her best to make up for his loss, even though she misses him, too.

Only people who are not cat familiar would not credit them with feelings of loss. I just hope I will be doing the right thing getting another kitty so she will have company. She has only been with her brother for 12 years, although she lived with the breeder and her cats until they came to me. If I can put the two of them together before bringing the new one home, at least it could be an indication of whether they can be friends.

Never looked back.
