I was given the information over the phone. To my understanding it is a federal law and if you heard of it before, I'd guess that to be true. I have also had it confirmed by some supervisors at some companies when I finally reached them. I always try to give anyone who answers the phone a chance, but when you get one who has no idea what you saying and/or I cannot understand them, I ask for someone in the USA. I have not seen the law in print and if I did, it would greek to me. I am not good at reading legal BS.

I have never been able to find that it is a law anywhere. Some companies might have that policy, but it is up to them.

Snopes says there is no law, but I don't believe everything on Snopes.

since you can't seem to get our sympathy or make us understand you are not going to get your solution in this venue. Suggest you find another soapbox, perhaps Hyde Park in London!

Perhaps you learn how to read and comprehend. Sorry, but I have clearly explained the situation more than once; I'm not doing it again; enough from the peanut galley! OK. Insulting me will only bring back the same, so lets stay civil here.

You are very wise not to even go to snopes. They have been proven to be wrong on several occasions.

I have had a couple bad experience with amazon. They let a bunch of scam artist supposedly sell there. The two items I ordered were sent to a different state. Amazon does not screen these sellers. I can understand E bay system better and weed out questionable sellers. I have not ordered from them lately.

Never had a problem with Amazon. I'm a Prime member; saves me more money in a couple of months than the membership costs, arrives in a couple of days, and perhaps makes returns easier. Just my thoughts. Are you checking the reviews and ratings on the 3rd party buyers you have dealt with?

Why are you attacking people on here? Because others haven't had the same experience as you with Amazon doesn't mean we need to feel your wrath. When someone states that they've not had that problem, you don't give them a smart reply, you just move on, it's only common sense.

I have no problem with someone giving their experiences or opinions but when someone attacks me, I'm going to defend myself. Believe me with some of the ridiculous uncalled for remarks some have made at me, I could be a lot harsher. The old saying so much applies here: you can't fix stupid.

My suggestion is to take a more direct approach. Note the date, time, and name of the rep(s) with whom you speak. Make notes regarding the questions and replies. After all is done, if you aren't satisfied, contact Amazon. Let them know that they are apparently supporting this business through their site. The more specific you can be with your information, the easier it is for Amazon to investigate the issue.

Communicating your experience with us is not going to solve anything. Especially, with the lack of factual information, such as product, company, etc.

I have been buying from Amazon for years and more and more I have been having problems with them. They let anyone sell anything they want without being screened to see if the seller is legitimate, if the information they give about the product is correct or even an out right lie. To try to counter this, call them and go over the product with a rep. Then the problems really escalate. You get a foreign rep who barely speaks English, is almost impossible to understand and they have no idea what you are talking about but try to BS their way through the conversation with you, wasting your time and only showing over and over again that they have no idea what you are saying. Then when you ask for a rep in the USA (which they are required by law to connect you), they either refuse to do so or put you through hell to get them to connect you. Then when you get to the US rep (if they finally do connect you), you are fed a bunch of lies that you find about later after you spent your money. Then you call back to get the problem resolved and you are informed that everything the rep told you was untrue; but Amazon will nothing to resolve the problem. zThen you are left with the final resort to file a dispute with your credit card company that can take several months to have it put to rest.

I have experienced this exact scenario the last tow times I tried to order an item at Amazon. Neither purchase was photo equipment, but the point is, why would one continue to keep purchasing from Amazon when they keep treating their customers this way. Has anyone else had similar experiences with Amazon with purchases? I personally, think that I am done ordering from them and highly caution others from doing business with them; they re rapidly getting wore and worse. I could give details btt it would be like a chapter in a book to explain step by step problems and why they were a problem but the routine is as described.

I mentioned the product. no one here is going o solve the problem. If you read my posts you would know that. I am just alerting (that is all the post was meant to do; nothing else) everyone of my bad experience with Amazon and then the peanut gallery goes wild. s I said before, more than once I believe; that it is in the hands of my credit card company with a dispute.

Amazon offers a transcript of the interaction verbatim delivered to your email inbox when you are involved in a chat session with them. Any promises they make and any words they type are included in that transcript. I don't know if they do that in voice calls also but it is the very reason I interact with them via their Chat Facility. As I said my interaction with Amazon has been great over the years but there is no reason that this exchange should have gotten this far out of hand. Not when you are dealing with Amazon.

I have never had a problem with getting the wrong product, broken product etc. from Amazon. I did, however, fail to receive a product that I ordered. At least they were honest enough to not charge to my account. I ordered a cd: Spirit In The Sky; Best Of, by Norman Greenbaum. It was supposed to arrive 7-10 days after I placed my order. Between the 7th. & 10th. day I received an email telling me there was a delay-----no explanation. They asked if I still wanted the cd and informed me of a new arrival time of almost a month later. I told them that I still wanted the cd. When the time was up I was emailed again and told there would be another delay. I cancelled the order and found the same cd on E-Bay. 5 days later I had the cd from E-Bay. I haven't totally given up on Amazon but I won't be placing orders for big $$$$$$ items.

Gee,could you provide at least one or two examples? I have yet to face that issue or any others for that matter and I have been ordering at least bi-weekly for years. Guess I'm lucky...

I recently bought a new-to-me camera, Nikon D7200 and had a very good experience (GAS attack). However, while looking I ran across numerous ads for this camera at ridiculously low prices from a vendor, "just established, no feedback". These ads continue and I see one now, this one is from "Dustin K Kaui, Just Launched (Seller Profile)". This ad is for a Nikon D7200, brand new, with 18-140mm lens for $499 and says "Bränd nëw itëm! Cöntäct us priör tö ördëring~JHONSONY27 "at" Gmäil .COM~ !**" That is a direct copy and paste.

Search for any camera and look for low prices under "more buying choices".

I don't know why Amazon cannot eliminate this kind of obvious scam.

You are correct, there are scammer sellers out there but I have been able to figure that out before I make a purchase. There have been a couple of time that the seller's advertisement said to contact them first before purchasing to make sure the stocked item is still available. When I do that, they email me back and try to divert my purchase through a different avenue. It seemed strange to me and I sent the entire email string to the Amazon Spoof department who were quick to warn me that it was not something that Amazon supported yet they did nothing to purge the seller. A reader below summed it up well when he said buyer beware and to add, it it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Thanks for sharing and warning of your perils.

I agree completely. And that is the exact reason I posted it up here to caution everyone; this may be a new practice they are instilling; screw and lie to the customer. Of course, instead I get insulted and mocked by every idiot on this site. And the insult to injury here is that I took every precaution to avoid exactly what happened and Amazon has chosen to completely ignore this. That's why I put it on dispute; to give them a kick in the back end; basically a wake up call. Like I said earlier; they are getting too big and powerful for their own good and think they can pull anything they want on whom ever they choose to attack.
