As a Marine combat vet in Vietnam I think whoever in the VA told you that you don't have PTSD is full of crap. I would contact the VA again and ask to see another doctor. All are not the same and believe me some are not sympathetic to veterans at all. Look at the criminal people who were working at VA centers during the reign of Obama. The diagnosis you received can be challenged. I also agree with the other posters as well. It is PTSD and as a veteran you need and DESERVE some quality care. Thank you for your service. Welcome home.

When I had problems with PTSD my insurance covered it. I went to group therapy for 3 months, then got laid off and couldn't afford the COBRA ins after that. It helped a lot better than drugs and booze. I just started receiving 70% disability from VA 3/1/17 and NO PTSD since I'm not depressed anymore but the dreams are there. The CPAC for sleeping helps but I still get dreams. I didn't like the doctor that examined me what the Hell I got stuff cause by
Ops hit the wrong key! AGENT ORANGE even my daughter has problems from that stuff. But appeal their decision.
I have PTSD and a few too many concussions. Viet Nam Era Military Police Sgt, wasn't the police duty, it was from a prison built for 220 housing 550. Many of the guards were untrained and rejects from companies, a few good MP's and a couple of good Viet Nam vets filled it out. I am 71 and have had treatment for about 15 years. It helped. Bike riding, my dog, a good wife, weight-lifting and not sitting around too much all helped. My nightmares are less. Also go to nutritionfacts.org the MD looks at ever study in English about nutrition around the world and it's hard to believe but some foods help and some cause anxiety. Good luck. People care/
Hello Leo, Welcome Home Brother !!!! I spent 16 months as a door gunner with the 11th CAG at Marble Mountain, right next to DaNang AFB. I am 100 %, 70% for PTSD and the rest for Ischemic heart disease, type II diabetes with neuropathy, a blood disease, a bone disease etc., etc. I have had 15 major surgeries. You DO have PTSD so you need to get a national service officer from, VFW, DAV, VVA, MOP, any one that is a National service officer and explain your symptoms, problems and they will get you another CMP exam with a shrink. I still have nightmares, don't sleep well at night etc. Right now for the past few weeks Ihave been very depressed, angry and feeling worthless. I belong to a wonderful Pentecostal Christian church and right now several Pastors and Elders are councelling me to assure me that Jesus Christ is at my finger tips all I need to do is reach out to Him. You can contact me any time at angelgi1@optonline.net, God Bless you my Brother, you are in my prayers !!!!!!!

When were you at Marble Mountain? I was there from April 66 until December 67 courtesy of the USMC with HMM-265, as a door gunner on a CH-46. I spent a lot of time at Phu Bai, Dong Ha, The Rock Pile and one more base up on the DMZ that escapes me right now.

Hi Dennis, I was at Marble from Oct 1970 to Jan 1972. When I first got there MAG 16 was in charge of the airfield. I was a gunner on a Huey and flew to Phu Bai, Dong Ha and all around the DMZ. Welcome home Brother !!!!!

Recently I have been having dreams that are getting to me. Most involve guns of one kind or another. They are violent and I wake up scared. I am feeling depressed and irritable most of the time and don't care about much at all. Several times a day I feel my eyes watering. And I cant seem to stay awake for more than a few hours until I just have to take a nap, so I am not sleeping well at nights either. It was like this after I was discharged but then I knew the dreams were directly related to Vietnam. Just wondering if this is normal or if anyone else is experiencing something like this? The only thing I think that is keeping my sanity is my dog and my grand daughter. The VA says I don't have PTSD, but they have me on meds for depression.
Thanks everyone

--600th Photo Sq. Det 7, Danang--67-68-------welcome home and don't let those @^%$^*&*)&^$#'s ruin the rest of your life----! !
The VA constantly sees false PTSD cases of people trying to get easy welfare.
As a result, people who have it and are negatively affected get no help.
The answer would be to treat those looking but make disability claims harder.

Sometimes it is good to interact with vets that walked a mile in your shoes. Please Google a DR. Mark Garrison to see some of his y-tube Nam stories. Lots of it to do with how he deals with his life's struggles since his Nam days. Nick name was Pig Pen, a CWO rotary wing pilot with an abundance of sad, funny, and informative day to day life reflections on his time in Nam.

I agree with Huey Driver, "sleep apnea" could be part of the problem. You may wish to be referred to a sleep doctor for a sleep study. I had issues with bad dreams and went for the sleep study and was prescribed a CPAP. The CPAP made a world of difference.
