I just purchases a new 64bit computer. It does not have card readers installed. Please recommend a good multiple USB outboard card reader.
Thanks.

Yours should work just fine. Just plug it in with a card in it and find out. I've been using readers for several years and have never had to install anything. Best of luck

Any USB card reader will work just fine, I recommend USB 3.0 models for fastest transfer speeds.

Here is an inexpensive one at B&H that supports different cards and has a 2 year warranty. $13

Buy a $40 card with it and get free shipping and no tax.

I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digital-Hi-Speed-Reader-FCR-HS4/dp/B00VAGX6MW/ref=sr_1_9?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1492105680&sr=1-9&keywords=card+reader

It works well and it's inexpensive.

Lexar USB 3.0 reads CF and SD. I think I saw it on sale by one of the major dealers in the last week.
I got it because the 6 year old CF reader in my computer couldn't handle the latest/fastest CF cards.

I like the Lexar Professional USB 3.0 dual slot memory card reader. It folds down into an outer shell to keep dust and debris out of the slots. I have the version for SD and CF cards. Another version has five slots.

What kind of cards do you use?
Most any reader will work, but I haven't seen any multi-card units that include XQD cards

I recently bought this one https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1188852-REG/transcend_ts_rdf9k_all_in_one_usb_3_1_3_0.html

Have been very impressed with the speed. Also future proof for newer systems.

Take your pick, you can also read the reviews and see which ones have sold the most. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_5_11?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=card+reader+usb&sprefix=card+reader%2Caps%2C365&crid=67R0O36PVCOF
