Is there a setting in my profile that will place me at the unread post of one I watch rather than place me at the top where I have to scroll and scroll and scroll.............to get where the unread posts start?
Probably in the frequently asked but in all seriousness I'm having a little trouble navigating this forum. So I suspect there is something somewhere that I can change that will help. So excuse me if this is already been asked and answered. This place is just that much different than I'm used too. I suspect I'll grow to like it but just having trouble now. So sorry.
I think its set up to automatically to send an email to you if you have responded to the post with reply/post of your own
This is the way it works for me when I reply to a post or check the WATCH box for a post. I get an email saying there's a new post to whatever topic and a link that takes me directly to that new post. I don't know of anything special that I did to set this up this way.
select a thread you want to view and go to the top line and select unread only or slide over to the right and select a page you wish to jump too.
Hmmm.....I didn't really want to get an email all the time but just be able to go to the thread and auto-magically start viewing all unread posts. I've now checked a bunch of stuff that wasn't checked in my profile so who knows what can of worms I just opened.😀

Not in your profile, make your selection at the top of the thread itself when you first open it.

How will you know when there's a new post in the topic of your interest?

I agree that this is a most inefficient site to scroll thru. In frustration, I've come up with the following: After reading the posts on an interesting thread, I hit my browser's 'back' button. That takes you back to the list of "New Topics" right where you left off. Cumbersome, but it's the best way I've found :)

That is the one feature i value most on this site.
To the right of each post is the symbol (=>)
Click on that symbol and it will take you to your unread post for that topic.

I don't see any such symbol on the original post of this thread, nor on any of the replies. What am I missing?

perhaps you need more than one page to get arrow for more pages.
I have only 1 box checked in profile, (hide home page discussions)

Umm, OK, thank you. I'll keep looking.

That sure sound like just what I was looking for though. Darn !!!
Oh oh....I think I found it. The list of Watched Posts has the little sign shown. It's just to the right of the title of the post. Now I have to wait to see if it works as I've seen the posts I'm so far following. Time will tell if this is just what I was looking for but it appears it is.
