Thinking about purchasing the Canon G9X. The specs sound good. But does anybody have any experience with this camera. Am I gonna get better pictures than I do with my iPhone 6s Plus. I am an old 35mm. Use to use 35mm SLRs. But it seems everybody has gone digital.
I appreciate any opinions and advice
Yes, everyone has mostly gone digital. I will agree that today's iPhones and Samsung smartphones take great photos. I own a Smartphone with a camera and built in flash. Be advised that the G9X has 20.9 megapixels, a 1" sensor, shoots RAW, and a focal length to about 80mm. You decide.
Thanks for your in put. Yes that's what I was thinking.
I have owned my Canon G9X for a year and it performs beautifully. I have shelved all my other cameras.
You might also consider the Sony DSC RX100 III (or any of the levels, I - V). They are a bit pricier, but have some different advantages, depending upon how high up the line you go -- articulating viewing screen, pop-up OLED viewfinder, etc. I have the level III and I loved it in Europe last summer. I got a reconditioned one and would swear that it was a brand new one...maybe that someone had returned. It's a hearty little camera. Good luck in your quest!
I had to search high and low for it but I found the equivalent zoom range of the Canon G9X. It's 28-80. Not impressive to me. So I would pass on this camera.
I'm getting to replace my work s110 camera with the g9x. The s110 has lasted a little over 3 1/2 years, and I'm hoping the g9x will do the same. Being that this is a multiuser camera for our work office, I'm getting it because of the small size and the relatively fast lens.
What about the Canon Power Shot G16? It has a better zoom range with a 28–140 mm, F1.8 - F2.8 Zoom Lens. Price about $499.
Thank you. I will look at the Canon G16 and the Sony RD100 also. I like the G9X but wish it had a view finder
