I am thinking of buying a new camera but am a bit undecided, COSTCO is selling a Nikon D7200 bundle (AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm VR II and AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm VR Lens, 32GB SD Card, Camera Bag, Extra Battery & 2 Year Extended Warranty $1,349.99. Good deal? Good Camera?
I appreciate your advise...

The d7200 is a great camera and will give you years of service without default. But, just as an aside, the NEW NIKON D7500 just came out but the body is $1250.00. So if you bundled it with your deal it might reach $1600.

D7200 is a great camera. If I was buying one, I'd purchase a refurb body then purchase a refurb lens that is good for portraits. The reason I say that is for the price of the Costco kit you might be able to purchase a refurb D500 body but then you need to purchase a lens. You could rent a few lenses to help you figure out which lens is best for you. One practical lens that is low cost but good is the 35mm. It's fast works great in low light. New $195. I bought used for $150. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-D500-Digital-SLR-Camera-20-9MP-DX-Format-Body-Brand-New-/182280568952?hash=item2a70c4c078:g:sv0AAOSwSlBYx0Mo

Sounds good. Just be aware that the D7500 has been announced - flip screen, etc.

The Major difference between the 7100 and the 7200 is the buffer..Which means you can take MANY more images at a high speed frame rate with the D7200 especially in Raw mode before the buffer fills, and slows down your shooting!..Important to me because I shoot only in Raw Mode.. I almost went for the D7200, but I needed the all-around speed of the D500, which is what I now own.. If I were you, I would get the D7200, and forget about the "new" D7500..It's not really a move "up" IHMO.. I think You'll LOVE the D7200!!

I would buy a refurbished or used D7200 , for around $600 at the most . Then pick up a refurb or used lens that you want for $600 or $700
It should last you ten or more years , at taking 10000 pic a year , but the lens will keep going for a few life times if it's looked after .

Great camera!!! So so lens'. I have had the 7200 for 2 years, since it was introduced and love it. I al ready had a nikkor 18-200 and love the pairing. I had a 18-55 and 55-300 kit lens'. But never used the much and don't at all since I managed to get a sigma 150-600C which is also very nice.

I don't like those kits. Since a 7500 is coming soon the 7200 price should come down. Get a good lens. I like a constant aperture lens. I had the Sigma 17-50 f2.8 lens and loved it.

The D7500 did not "just came (come) out". It has been announced but not expected to ship until June. Stop misleading people. Geesus.

Decent price for an excellent camera and two good (but not exceptional) kit lenses.

Great choice , I use an 18-140 3.5 as prime and carry my 70-200 2.8 as long lens. I also have a 1.8 50mm. You will save money buying separate as the kits have lots of "stuff' not really needed.

Is the D7100 the cheap sister or brother to the D7200? What's the difference as I see D7100 all over the place.

Hi,

The only difference is that the D7200 has a built in wireless link. All the other specs are the same. If you do not need the wireless link, the D7100 is the better buy.

As a comment, the D7100/D7200 both have the pentaprism viewfinder and do not have the anti-aliasing filter.

Excellent camera. Decent lenses. Costco's warranty is golden. Nice thing about Costco is their very good return policy. If you don't like it, they will take it back, no questions. So you don't risk much trying it. But I think you will love it.

That said, for "functions", my preferred lens is an 18-200 mm. Otherwise you seem to always have the wrong lens on the camera. For a while Nikon was putting an 18-140 in the kit, but now Nikon, Canon and Sony are all doing the two lens dance.

Consider getting a Nikon factory refurb from Adorama, B&H or Cameta along with the 18-200 Nikon VRII. Probably a little cheaper and, for me, the better lens choice.

I also have the D7200 and the Tamron 16-300 mm lens. Love them both. It sounds like a good deal to me, but I agree, make sure there's a U.S. warranty.

That is categorically false. The D7200 has the following improvements over the D7100 - longer battery life, better dynamic range, better high ISO performance, weighs about 3 ounces less, newer image processor, 18 shot buffer for 14 bit RAW, 35 shot buffer for 12 bit RAW, native ISO up to 25,600, 9 frame exposure bracketing, 9,999 intervals in time lapse, 30% less shutter lag - there are many more, but this should be enough to put to rest the assertion that the only difference is the built-in WiFi.

Come on, folks, people come here for REAL ADVICE, not BS. If you don't know the REAL answer to a question then just move past it.
