This may be well and good, but nobody has addressed Green's original question about why are people okay with Trump saying during the campaign that he was going to stay out of the Syrian conflict? In fact he pretty much campaigned on an isolationist position.

Steven,
In my opinion, I think many people are indifferent as to what Trump does now as President vs what he stated during his campaig. He has flip-flopped on many of his issues and promises that this is just another Trump issue he and his advisors decided to act upon. Maybe it was the outcry from people around the world regarding who was gassed, innocent children being splashed across all news outlets, or possibly Trump grew a conscience overnight. I don't think anyone will truly know. But, America can not survive in this world by isolating itself when there are countries determined to see us defeated. Also, without our key alliances we have established throughout the years, we will not survive alone. Hopefully, someone has reached Trump and he realizes this and his attitude regarding Germany, England and our other crucial allies are essential when dealing with undesirable people such as Assad and Putin.

I am heartened to hear a Liberal like yourself acknowledging that America cannot isolate itself in the World, when there are countries determined to see us defeated.

I don't know any liberals who would be ok with isolating us to the point of being defeated by other countries. Maybe you heard this not from liberals, but from right wing pundits on TV or radio who tell you what liberals think?

The reason I bring it up is that many Liberals completely discount the threat coming from the Islamic Jihadist World, especially Iran (Even a Conservative, Ron Paul is in this camp). I might also add that the Obama Administration tried very hard to play nicey nice with the Russians during his entire tenure. Hilary made of big show of hitting a "reset" button in front of the Russian Ambassador to show that the old mistrust of Russia by previous administrations was a thing of the past.

While there are probably some who believe, I seriously doubt the MOST Liberals believe this.

What I believe is that not every Muslim is a threat to us.

That doesn't mean I don't believe that there are Muslims who do mean us harm.

What you may not know is that the first thing in the morning the president has a briefing on what is going on in the world. He also has a team of advisers that hash over all the details. In the end it is his decision. The American people are not aware of all those reasons for those decisions. I wonder if you would have questioned any of those decisions if Hillary would have been in office??

So we will be the world's policemen. Is that what your hoping for.

I was basing this largely on what I have seen right here on the Hedgehog. Whenever some right-winger posts a story about Muslim Terrorism, the Liberals are all over him about what a hater he is and that this fear of radical Muslims is all bogus.

Oh, you mean when wingers post inflammatory headlines about some rape or heinous crime allegedly committed by a muslim, or about how only muslims commit terrorism, or anything designed to stir up hatred and bigotry and anti-immigrant anti-muslim hysteria, usually accompanied by some bullshit statistics that dishonestly paints muslims as natural monsters and prone to more deviant, violent behavior compared to good white Christians? LOL

You're funny, Steve.

As a candidate, Trump spouted out anything that would excite his short-sighted supporters. As President, he is confused by reality.

As opposed to which other politician? You think any politician, on either side, doesn't try to say what he, or she, wants you to hear and then worry about it later, or change their stance later?

If you believe a politician you are only fooling yourself.

Try to keep up with the conversation. We are talking about Trump, not "any other politician".

Oh wait, I forgot. "Mommy, s/he did it first" is the only way you know how to respond when you can't defend Trump's behavior or dishonesty.

Exactly! If this doesn't show Trump voters once and for all that they were conned by a pathological liar who has no real positions or principles, and just spouts whatever he thinks will bamboozle people in the moment to get their votes or manipulate them, then I don't know what will.

Just like every other politician? The thing is, this one got elected. So many things would have been the same with Hillary.

LOL

You can't help it, can you?

Once again, pay attention to the conversation. We are not talking about Hillary. We are talking about Trump.

"Mommy, s/he did it fist!" is the only response you know. Why not just program a script on your computer to respond with this same scripted answer, since it never changes? You don't have to waste your time typing it out every time. You can just program a bot to do it for you. Pretty simple.
