Dirty Treasures

I'm in the midst of a massive renovation project of my grandparents' 120 yr old house, and though most of the things they owned have vanished with the tenants in between, I occasionally find something interesting that I remember from my childhood, like these glasses. Texture is used to add some grunge to the whole image, I thought it was an appropriate match-up. I started to weave the snakeskin I found through the stems but decided that was a bit much. All thoughts (and I know this one isn't for everybody so it's OK to hate it) and edits appreciated.

A very appealing use of backlighting, perspective and depth of field. I think I discern some of the grunge effect, and agree it works really well.

Without the backstory, I probably would wonder why someone is photographing dirty glasses and how they came to be that way. I could see this more as part of an intricate photo story thread. There must be so many emotions for you with these discoveries and with your ongoing work on the home.

I sometimes see my discoveries through the lens! Ya'll will have to see more of them over time. (There is a headless mannequin in the yard!). Maybe I'll do a book of it when I get done.

...texture practice....

I'm making some wine so naturally, your glasses although not visually taste appealing made me a tad thirsty.

Ha! That's funny. Dirty Wine, so to speak (though I'd rather have Chablis if you don't mind).
