Up until now, I was a firm believer in the technique of ETTR/ETBR. Now I'm not so sure. Here's the article that caused me to think about this subject in an entirely new light, no pun intended.

I tried out his technique and it works just as he described it. Absolutely no noise.

A pinhole lens with an aperture of f/222 works great for night shots. If the moon is full, a filter can be made out of a piece of black electrical tape.

Even though my browser is misbehaving and I am unable to see the sample photos of the bats, This is making a lot of sense to me. It ties in with an article I read regarding native iso's and how the data is processed by the camera on its destination to the cf card and the consequences you deal with.

It really works. I used welding glass and you cant even see the histogram. It really works well.

What difference does the publication date make? A great concept is a great concept regardless of when it's published. The unfortunate would be to never have this article see the light to day. No pun intended.

If it works I have zero issues in attempting it ---- Sounds like an interesting idea --- HOWEVER -- When I check out His photos they are totally blank/black -- Is someone pulling this old mans leg????? Is this a total put-on???? April 1st was 7 days ago

How could this article be pulling anyone's leg. The logic and technique are sound. The concept is equally so. Then, there's the proof in the results.

As I stated earlier, what difference does the publication date make on a sound photograph principle?

the concept is well explained, easy to implement and works right in the box so to speak.
wish there were more suggestions like this.

Have a good look at my latest post.

Do you think you could have done better with ETTR/EBTR? Probably not. You would have blown the detail in the egret feathers.

Now you can laugh out of the other side of your face.
