What kind of luck have any of you had that may have bought refurbished equipment from B&H? I am thinking specifically of a Nikon P900.

I purchased a D800E last summer from B and H. I was surprised at the incredibly brand new appearance of the camera. It has worked flawlessly. If memory serves, it also had a warranty, from B and H.

I purchased a lens and D7200 that were classed as refurbished that I use professionally from B&H. It came with a B&H warranty.

From what I'm seeing the refurb is only $60 less than new... imho, spend the $60

BTW, at the time of purchase, I inquired about whether or not it was a gray market camera. They told me honestly they couldn't tell because they get trade-ins all the time. I further inquired if it was gray market could I return it. The reply was no problem, full refund. Fortunately, all the indicators pointed to a US import and all was good.

I could be wrong, but I thought you could tell by the serial number...

Idaholover, tell you what...have B&H send the P900 to me. Be sure they include a good case, a fast SD card and an extra battery. I'll test it thoroughly for a couple of years, and IF IT'S OK, I'll send it on to you. No, no! No need to thank me; we at UHH take care of our own. [Yes, I have purchased Nikon refurbs from B&H and NEVER had a problem.]

You are correct. That is exactly the way I checked the camera when it arrived.

B&H backs there refurbished equipment but most come with a manufactures warranty of 30 days, B&H may offer a year of there own but make sure before you buy. Also check what the return policy is on refurbished vs. buying new.

All of my equipment is refurbished. But it all comes directly from Canon. If B&H say that their equipment is "factory refurbished" it shouldn't an issue. I have dealt with B&H for decades and have never had a problem, so what they say I would believe.

If you are looking for refurbished equipment, why not go directly to Nikon's website and see what they have to offer. Periodically they also have a sale which makes the deal a bit better. B&H is a great place to buy gear in general, and you should be able to trust what they tell you about the products they sell and return policiies, etc. I go to them and Adorama when planning a purchase, as well as to Nikon. I have heard that Cameta also is a good place because they offer their own longer warranty - 1 yr instead of 3 mos.

I wouldn't hesitate to purchase used or refurbished from B&H, Adorama, or KEH. Generally, each gives you a chance to examine the camera in your hands and if it doesn't meet your expectations (within a reasonable time, usually a couple of days) you can return it. Of course, you are responsible for return shipping. Nikon USA also sells refurbished equipment.
