I need a little help. When I press SHIFT + 2 I get " instead of @ and when I press SHIFT + 3 I get £ instead of the HASH symbol and when I press SHIFT + " I get @ instead of " . All others seem OK. Seems like these couple of keys have reversed. I'm not a computer guy, however I suspect this to be a very simple fix. Can someone please help me before I start the chainsaw in frustration..... I would be eternally grateful.

Na-a, don't use a chain saw. That's too complicated. Just use a sledge hammer.
I know several things about computers, but this one is out of my league. Apologies.

You didn't mention whether you are using Windows or Mac. So, here's the easiest way for you to fix this. Go to google and enter

keyboard mapping

into the search window. There will be a number of topic that will show up. Most are instructional.

Additionally, there will be a possibility of searching for keyboard mapping mac. If you are using a mac. I hope this helps.

Just in case you're "gonna" start up your saw, please take some shots of it and post it!

First things I would try would be the 'troubleshooting' feature. (Go to devices and printers, right click the keyboard and run troubleshoot. 98% of the time it will tell you it couldn't identify the problem, however, it may work.) The second thing I would try is to uninstall/re-install and see it it loads back up correctly and in a functional state. Sometimes if you follow up with a restart of the computer, it will repair itself. Good luck! I just changed out my keyboard this weekend because it stopped working correctly and banging it with my hammer didn't help. :)

I am pretty sure you somehow changed your keyboard layout.

My first guess, you have your keyboard on English British. I know that SHIFT+2 = " , Shift+3 = £ , and Shit+ " = @
For windows you should be able to access control panel, and look for regional settings. There you should have a tab Keyboard. Look in there and change according to you region and language.

Hope it helps .
C.

Probably not the keyboard. First - reboot the computer if you haven't already. Then - look up your keyboard settings to make sure that they are still correct - see this page for help:

I don't think replacing the keyboard would help. It's almost certainly a settings issue.

The following is for a windows machine.
If you are unfortunate enough to be using windows 10 go to the" ask me anything" window lower left and type "keyboard settings" and reset your country and the other choices. Sometimes windows makes changes for no apparent reason.
But if you spilled something on the keyboard and then who knows.
If the keyboard is wireless change the batteries, use a meter to verify the voltage. Don't trust them being new and good.
Or this might work unplug keyboard cable and put it in a different usb port.
ask to borrow a neighbors keyboard and see it that fixes the problem.
