Colorful character

Anyone know what it is?
#1 Is it molting. Did it have an accident? Bill

It looks like something chomped down on it. This beetle is Calosoma scrutator, in the family Carabidae. It's a voraceous predator.

Imagine going into your local car bodyshop and saying you wanted your car sprayed in those colours!
Beautiful colours and not something I would want to appear on my salad

How would you describe those shifting colors to the paintshop?

I think it was TVR that had an amazing type of metallic colour that looked different from different angles :)

I've seen cars painted in such a way that they appear blue from one angle and red from another. Bill

I'm sure that may well be the paint I am thinking of, especially if it is some very 'classy' type of metallic colouring.
