I have a question for the old film shooters who used Asahi/Honeywell Pentax cameras

I recently acquired a Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic SPIIa. I also found an original user manual as well. In 1969 I bought the Spotmatic II and as I remember it came with a 55mm f/1.8 Super Takumar lens. I also had a super Takumar 135mm f/3.5 lens. One of my buddies had the same camera and had an 85-210mm lens as well as the 55mm. In looking in the user manual for the SP IIa the only Super Takumar zoom I find is the Super Takumar Zoom 70-150mm f/4.5. Did the Super Takumar come in the 85-210 range or was that one of the Vivitar lenses that were also m42 screw mounts? I hate getting old. I seem to suffer from that malady CRS.

Then I guess my memory is kinda not so bad. I knew that Vivitar made several lenses in m42 screw mount and thought it might have been one of those.

No problem - I had a screw mount Soligor ~80-200 or so. It was my first zoom and it was not a good lens.

I just hope this camera takes as good a pictures as the first one I had did.

I had a Spotmatic II with an f1.4 normal lens. I also had the 85-210 zoom and a 28mm from Vivitar....they promoted them together as the "odd couple".
I wasn't aware of the Takumar zoom at the time.

I started getting''serious'' with 35mm photography wit a Asahi Pentax Spotmatic that I bought in a duty free shop in Jamaica in the 70's. It was a fine camera and served me well until the switch over to digital. Wish I still had that old Pentax.

I bought my Spotmatic in 1968, when I was stationed in Thailand. I still have the camera and a Sun Hi-Tel zoom lens F:4.8 F+85 to 210 lens. It was the pistol grip lens. The combination took some great pictures. All of the pictures I took were 35mm slides, which I plan to show on the wall and make digitals of them.

I shot a Spotmatic for almost 10 years with an f1.4. I'm PRETTY SURE it was a 50, and NOT a 55?! But I never had the 1.8.

My first "real" camera was a spotmatic with a 50mm 1.4. Wish I still had it. I wonder how many of us started with a spotmatic.
