Look to invest in a Canon T3i in a kit form. Want to get the most for the dollar. Where do I look on line? I am currently saving up for the purchase, hopefully, in the near future. I love this web site and have enjoyed learning from all and seeing the pictures shared. Thanks to all for being willing to give of your wisdom and time. I hope to learn in the future how to post my own pictures.

Welcome. You might want to look at used gear. Some really good deals out there. Won't have to save as long before you can start taking pictures.

Do you need a DSLR or would a bridge or point and shoot work for you as well? Ask yourself first, what you want to photograph then look at your budget.
If you like the T3i you might also want to check out the new T4i. http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-Rebel-T4i-vs-Canon-T3i Welcome to UHH!

Besides the obvious choices; B&H and Adorama, and Samy's, take a look at Canon's "Canon Loyalty Program" where you get a refurbished kit camera like you want for about 20% off the already low prices. You just send them back a broken Canon camera to get the deal. I bought a broken point and shoot off of ebay for $5.00 and traded it in for my T2i.

QVC has a good deal with flex pay 5 easy payments of 189.99 for the kit with the 18-55mm and the 55-250mm.
I bought my first bridge camera from them and all my Pentax gear came from HSN.

I have used B&H for years and I have heard good things about Adorama. B&H has refurbished cameras and lenses that can save you some money.

Really good point. I have a Pentax k-x and recently bought a Fujifilm S4080 on eBay (with 80 actuations) for $100. It's a great camera to mess with. Very light and with a 30x optical zoom, and still with enough manual options to keep you busy. A great camera to take hiking or boating say, and to see if you want to get serious without breaking the bank.

Good luck. It's a great hobby.

if you have at least 25K miles on UNITED and find it tough to use them these days, you can get a Canon T3i kit by trading in those miles for the camera. I just recently did and now have a new camera basically for free.

Check Costco.com and Amazon.com

Then there are the standbys: Adorama, B&H, KEH, and Abe's of Maine.

Costco currently has the T3i with the 18-55 and 55-250 lens kit (4GB SD card included) for $849.00. It might be good to just check it out.
