This whole idea is fraught with problems. However, there is no rule that the employers have to reduce the wages paid to their labor. It only prevents local political districts from raising minimum wages higher than the rest of the state.

You might note that the areas that had raised their wages have an unusually younger age skew to their populations - read as university/college towns.

You think employers won't drop wages. Look what it took to get what worked man has now. Thanks to the Lib's.

I know....your posts make no sense at all. You oughta try employing an editor. You could pay him or her up to the maximum wage.

Not only would they....they should. Pay should be commensurate with experience and expertise....not on the amount of your lease.

Furthermore, the cost of your lease should then be commensurate with the amount of your pay.

You know, it wouldn't kill you....and would actually buy you some credibility, if you said "oops, I meant to say ------ "

Nobody's perfect......

I earn a heck of a lot more than minimum wage....so is my employer breaking the "Maximum Wage" law? Given your logic, the answer would be yes.

Don't be so desperate for a comeback that you make an idiot of yourself.

It's OK to be wrong. I do it regularly. It's how I learn......but only if I can admit and own my mistakes.

That was not meant as a comeback, employers that use lower tier employees, such as fast food services can hire all day long at minimum wage which in fact means for all intent and purposes that it is the maximum wage that employer has to pay in order to find employees. It is not a law, never said that, just an idea.

Hey Dirt, I almost never respond to your numerous posts because they are so downright lame and stupid and quote the worst reliable sources on the Internet. But I saw this and said HALLELUJAH! I am just ecstatic that a State had the balls to get rid of the minimum wage. Let me say it again HALLELUJAH!! Now workers will no longer be laid off or relegated to part-time work due to artificial wage hikes, and teenagers will be able to get jobs again. Not only that, but the cost of consumer goods will come closer to their true value. Wish it would happen in Ohio.

This leads me to some skepticism because the news is coming from you and Politicus, who are almost never right about anything. However, I had about a 15 minute talk with Governor Terry Branstadt at the Republican Convention in July, and he seemed like just the kind of guy that would sign such a bill. Perhaps the times they are a changin'?

Hell- Let's all work for company script. Then buy our stuff at the company store-

Some people say a man is made outta mud
A poor man's made outta muscle and blood
Muscle and blood and skin and bones
A mind that's a-weak and a back that's strong
You load sixteen tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store
I was born one mornin' when the sun didn't shine
I picked up my shovel and I walked to the mine
I loaded sixteen tons of number nine coal
And the straw boss said "Well, a-bless my soul"
You load sixteen tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store . . .
