I know Nikon has financial issues but I have not heard anything about Sony and Nikon merging together.
When Olympus was in deep financial problems Panasonic came to the rescue. Olympus was not sold rather both companies went into a joint venture with the result that lenses from one company fit the bodies of the other.
Nikon till now has been buying sensors from Sony but as I said, I have heard nothing about both companies merging together.

You just heard from who? Quit writing these stupid rumors. That is all this forum is getting to be: rumors, look what I just bought, I'm going somewhere, what kind of a camera do I need, what lens should I take, my camera is too heavy, you don't need a tripod, I can hand hold a 600m lens, Very good quality technical questions are rare. every bit of nonsense just to get your name in print and try to impress every one on UH.
