Excellent! They were world-changers when they were introduced. The same basic engine was used for decades. Now, Jaguars have become cars designed by committees. You'll need well over $100,000 to buy one these days.

I'm so glad I got all that foreign car/auto restoration out of my system when prices were reasonable. Now it's little more than investment opportunities for rich people.

Here are two. Take your pick. I'll wait till the end of the auction to bid - if I decide to bid.

When I was 15 with a learners permit to drive, my favorite uncle came to visit. He was driving an XK140 roadster. At the end of the visit he asked if I wanted to spend a couple of weeks with him at the other end of NYS. Of course I did. The day we were to leave he was sitting in the passenger seat when I got to the car. When I asked what he was doing he told me he was going to relax while I drove the new Jag. You can only imagine the happiness of a 15 year old kid driving a Jaguar like that.

My boss in the late '80s had an '82 Jag. His $.79 tail light blew, frying the $1000 computer that controlled the electrical system. He sold it a month later when the other tail light blew the computer again...

My dad had 4 Jags, 54 XK 120, 62E type coupe, 65E type roadster and his favorite a 68E type coupe. They were all his daily drivers. He once got a ticket for "intent to speed" from a small town cop in Massachusetts in 1965. I have an 06 XJ8 sedan since new and it is one of the best cars I've ever owned.

Sure, you could take it home, but think of how the owner would feel

If you can afford the car, you can afford a handsome chauffeur.

On ebay there is one in Seattle that you can buy for under $17,000, unfortunately it has a 4 cylinder Mustang 2 engine in it, but it runs.
