hi Jerry, they are purple martin houses, the same birds will come to it only if it is clean. so the cleaning before they arrive, they have their eggs and babies there, then fly up near erie,pa. they do not stop on their way back south. in the past we have banded the babies, the parents circle the houses in flight during that time. at times a hawk will knock one out of the sky taking advantage of the situation

Interesting - especially the part about wanted clean houses. Obviously, they're more particular than humans.
