Anyone out there using the Sigma 17-70 mm f/2.8-4 lens? Any problems or issues? Looks like it would be a good walk around lens for my D7100. Thanks for your input.
I had that lens on my Sony A900 for years and love it. No issues at all with it.
It is my "Walkie"on my Canon 50D Crop. It is sharp, fast focusing and quiet. It delivers crisp images with good contrast and color rendition. AND it is close focusing so you can get the details as well. The Bokeh at 70mm @ f4 is great for portraits. It is very reasonably priced.

I bought this lens for the same walk-around reason and found it not to be as sharp as I expected, about the same as the Sigma 18-250 mm I own at equivalent focal lengths. So I returned it to B&H and bought the Sigma 17-50 mm f/2.8 instead and have been rewarded with very sharp images. Much better and 2.8. On a trip to Death Valley recently I added a 1.4 x converter which made this lens equivalent to the 70 mm at f/4 on the 17-70 and results were excellent. Yes, I would prefer the longer reach but the quality is simply not there compared to the 17-50.
I like mine a lot. It's sharp and handy for most photo ops.
