Young man in my church is interested in getting started in photography, and his parents want to encourage him, but do not want to spend a fortune to find out it is only a passing fad for him. I told them I would try and find him a good used Canon SX50, and teach him the basics of photography and then see where it he takes it from there.
They will spend $200, but that needs to be delivered. Anyone out there have one sitting in a closet who would like to help a young photog get started? I have a PayPal account and can pay that way to make the transaction go quicker.
PM me, please. Thanks for looking.

The Canon SX50 is no longer in production. It has a good reputation as being one of the best Bridge cameras made for the price. There is at least one person on this forum who owns two of them. Last year, I tried to get a refurbished one for a friend from Canon USA. I called him within one hour to notify him about it. They were out of stock that quick. Your best bet is to buy used, as you stated. However, refurbished is better. IMO. Available for $200? Good luck.

I am familiar with all the information you shared. I owned a Canon refurb that I wish I still had. Great camera for the price. All I can do is ask and look. I am currently bidding on a used SX50 on eBay. With a little luck . . .
Thanks for responding.
EBay has a used one for sale for $220. As of now.
Thanks for the heads up on this unit. It is just a bit scuffed up for what I am looking for. I'll keep it in mind though. Thanks, again.

This one has free shipping. $219.99.
Since they aren't made any more, move up to the SX 60.
I'v got one that I will let go for $200.00 if you are still interested. alcolter1@gmail.com.
I have an SX50 that has been used very little. I'm really in to my 7D w/ 100-400L II and never carry the SX50 any more. I'd sell it for $200 shipping included. Included would be the manual, battery, charger and lens cap. I believe I still have the original box as well.
