Being a man of proper values, I did the only proper thing I could do..... I bought a new lens!

Seriously, this just arrived today. I ordered it from Hong Kong on eBay. I'm very pleased with it. I have not had a chance to photograph anything yet but will very soon and post some photos here. The lens is an old Minolta 600mm f/4 G HS. That's a Sony A99II attached to the end of it.

I hope you enjoy the capabilities of this lens. I sure wouldn't want to take it on a hike. Have fun!!

Well you will probably have the biggest lenses on the block. :-}

Now all you need is a Super Duty pickup to haul it with.

Let us know how it works. And post a photo of the trophy wife when you get a chance.

LOL I'm still learning. 600mm is a whole new thing. Re: trophy wife photos, I'm attaching a photo of MY trophy wife. I met her in fourth grade 1948. We are still holding hands.

Beautiful Lady.

Yes you better not be caught taking photos of the trophy next door.

Red heads great. Just do not do them wrong and get them mad.

If you do that you are in a heap of trouble. :-}

Please post samples of the quality of the Sony/Lens combination.

I'm not sure what this photo proves, if anything but thought some of the more knowledgeable people would get something out of it.

Here is how I took it:
I put the A99II on the big Minolta 600mm f/4 lens. I then press the Fn=>center joy stick control=>Focus Area=>Wide

Below is a photo I took of the screen on the back of the A99II using the A77II and the Sony 100mm f/2.8 macro lens, so I could show it to you.

I was happy just so see so many focus point appear of the screen. I certainly should be able to take a photo with this many little focus points. Those of you who have used the A99II know that if a more modern lens were used on this camera there would be even more focus point. In fact this is just how it looks if you mount an A77II on say a Sony 50mm f/1.4 lens, while the A99II on that same 50mm lenses is a flood of focus spots.
