Dutch Harbor is perhaps the one place in Alaska that some claim to be more of an adventure than Utqiagvik (Barrow). It's hard to judge because it is a different kind of adventure. The point is that if you feature yourself as an adventurer, Dutch is a good destination! Eagles ain't the half of it...
Feeding the wild animals is not a good practice. I know it can be a great experience ( adventure ), but it teaches the wildlife habits that are not beneficial to them in the long run. May even be illegal in some areas. Just sayin'.
The Aleutians is a very strange place of extremes. There are lots of wildlife and natural food for them, but the weather is unbearable! I was stationed on Adak for 6 mos while in the Navy 47 years ago.
