Shootinn in Burst Mode and Photoshop

I have been shooting sports for several years, sports car racing and high school sports. I have a Nikon D810 now but have shot with a D600 and D750 with the same problem. When shooting in burst mode at high shutter speeds it's not uncommon to shoot 3 or 4 frames all in the same second. When downloading images in Bridge, Bridge sees 4 images taken in the same second and will number the images out of sequence. If I've shot 9 or 10 images Bridge will mix up all the images out of sequence. I've contacted Nikon to see if there is a way to have the camera mark the images to keep the sequence in order but they told me it's not their problem because Photoshop is doing it and Adobe also was no help. I'm told Lightroom would keep the images in order but I don't use Lightroom. Anyone else have this problem and is there a fix other than changing over to Lightroom?

Wouldn't the camera name each image different and in numerical order regardless of time?

The files ate sequentially numbered so set the sort priority in Bridge by file number rather than time (if possible) and that should stop the file mixing. I quit using Bridge years ago so I cannot say for sure the sort priority is user defined but I seem to recall that it was in preferences.

I've never encountered such problems in Bridge, but I had sequences of a rather slow 6 frames per second ( don't have a fast camera)!

I have not had that trouble with Bridge and make sure I have the sort order by name so they stay in sequential order.

If using a pc right click in the folder and sort by file name. See if that works.

Stop using Bridge. I don't have the problem using RS elements 10 or 14

I was told by a friend that my problem is that when downloading images from my camera to Bridge, I create a new folder and give it a name and date. I then use that same info to rename all the files(photos) and start numbering with the number "1". As the files are downloaded and given the new file name, files taken within the same second are now given a new number but not in the same sequence the files were taken in. To fix my problem I will no longer rename the files but leave the file name given to each file by the camera and this should correct my problem. I'll test this theory and fix soon. Thanks of the suggestions.

I have seen something similar in Photoshop Elements. I have a Canon 7D Mk 2, and normally use it in its high burst mode of 10 fps. I will often take a sequence of say a soccer kick or a batter swinging at a pitch. What is interesting, is that within the Organizer there are occasions when the sequence is clearly out of order (for a frame or two), and yet the file names are in proper sequence. I also saw the same thing with my 7D on occasion.

Unfortunately, I do a lot of screening and cannot quickly provide proof with an example. The problem only occurs occasionally. The next time it occurs I will document it.

FWIW It is just one of those things that I can't prove, but I know is true. :-)

Don, when downloading images from your camera or memory card, do you rename the file names? That is where I created my problem. I'm going out today and will try shooting in burst mode but not changing the file names in Bridge to see if that corrects my problem. I'll post my results.

I tried Lightroom but just didn't feel comfortable with it after using Photoshop for so many years....... I really need to make that extra effort to use Lightroom... give it a chance..:-)

I hardly ever upload images via LR, Bridge,... I use a memory card reader and upload to a folder using Windows (File Explorer in
Win 10). After, I import the folder into LR or Browser.

I downloaded the Lightroom Trial version several years ago think it was V6) and I just couldn't get used to it. I tried is two or there times over the first week or so and went back to PSE 10--later upgraded to 14-- and am very happy with it. I also have Topaz Adjust which I sometimes use for "Pop" if and otherwise good photo looks dull.
