Photo Editing program

I need help in selecting a photo editing program. I have been using Camedia for years and like it because I can insert text into the photos and rename them. My computer Windows 7 program keeps shutting it down. The Windows Live Photo Gallery is good but will not insert text and will not print 12 photos to a page. It also turns some of the photos around (not like I have posted them on the site). I just want a simple program to enhance the photos, not do elaborate changes. I use the program to inventory the jewelry items I make. This is my first post , hope I did it correctly.
Thanks!

I like to use Google Photos, it is quite basic but produces good results, I do use another "proper" photo editor but you can play around in Google Photos without doing any harm and any edits can always be undone.

Photoshop Elements is worth looking at. It has some strong photo organization features. Unlike its big brother, it's quite user friendly.

Which version of Camedia are you using? Did it ever work on your current Windows machine? Did you try uninstalling then reintsalling it? Have you checked to see if you have the most current version of the Software? I'm not familiar with this software, but if it really meets your needs and you're comfortable with it, I would put some effort into getting a version which will work with Windows 7. If even the latest version is very old, then you may not have a choice about getting it to run, but the Google search I conducted doesn't seem to indicate that. Version 4.3 seems to be the most current version.

Lately I've been using this freeware program quite a bit:
http://www.jpchacha.com/chasysdraw/

I find Chasys is fairly easy to use, and it comes with most features you will ever need. For the few of the less common tasks that Chasys can't do, I use either GIMP or Deep Paint, both also freeware.

Learn to work with Photoshop Elements till you make gains in that software then step up to full Photoshop, the world leader in post-processing programs. Photoshop is not that hard. There is just a lot in there. And you don't have to learn it all.

One of the reasons you want to use Photoshop or Photoshop Elements is because Photoshop is used by professionals and non-professionals all over the world. There are more forums, You-Tube tutorials, seminars, blogs, etc. on those than any other program by far.

Since very high image quality doesn't seem to be on your list, I would recommend importing them into PowerPoint. it has the ability to size and orient your pages - on the top menu, go to Design>Slide Size>Custom Slide. That drop-down has a lot of choices. Once your images are loaded, you may resize them, arrange them however you want and do basic photo editing. Then, with Insert>Shapes, you can draw and write all over them. If you need to send an individual marked up image, You could Make a Screenshot. Depending on the resolution of your computer screen, the screenshot will be somewhere between 72 and 120 dpi. You can enhance the dpi with photo editing software like Elements, but that takes much more than a paragraph to explain.

For Windows, I use IrfanView a lot. It's freeware. http://irfanview.com . If you try it, be sure to load the plugins also (available from the website). The program is basically a fast loading viewer but it also has some basic editing stuff (crop, brightness, contrast). You can add text. You can create contact sheets. You can view some of the EXIF metadata. You can save an image with a different name and/or in a different format (tiff, png, etc.)

And the price is right.

I think Faststone may do everything you may need. It's free and you can check it out at "http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm"

When you have a hammer, the answer is always a nail. I'm very good with Elements and would personally use it to solve your problem. My PowerPoint answer was based on your question and your needs. If you choose to go with Elements or another Adobe product, be prepared to learn many keyboard commands, as they aren't friendly to people who love menus, as in Microsoft products. If you choose an Adobe product, I would recommend books by Scott Kelby or online tutorials by Rick Peterson. Both of these people are excellent and you'll learn quickly.
