Nikon 18-200 2.8 - Does it exist?

Ida Kucera takes AMAZING pictures of dogs.

When asked about her equipment, she said "I use Nikon D700 combined with either a 80-200mm 2,8, 60mm 2,8, 12-24mm 2,8. ( All Nikon ) Elinchrome 250 w x 2 and backdrop ( for studio ) Speedlight SB-900 if I need it when I travel. That's it."

I can find lenses that are 80-200 3.5, but not 2.8. Could she have made a slight error?

Here is her site, which shows super sharp pictures:

It does. Nikon AF-Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8D ED. You may find it listed on http://www.dpreview.com/products/Nikon/lenses.

I have an AF Nikkor 80-200mm 2.8 ED lens. It is older and does not have VR but I find it to be an excellent lens. When I researched it, I found it rated as one of Nikkor's more popular lenses.

I have owned a Nikon 80-200 f2.8 for years. Of the 7 zoom lenses I presently own and the the 5 Nikon zooms I have said "Goodbye" to, this is clearly the best. Because I only use it outdoors I have found that I don't need VR. It is the only lens I have that is left over from my film days.

I am not aware of a F2.8 18-200 only 3.5. I have not heard of any faster glass at that zoom. They just came out with a 18-300 and still not any faster.

Thanks everyone! This lens is not carried at B&H Photo and other sites I use, so it was helpful to get your input!

I still have my old Nikon 80-200 2.8, although I did sell my F4's some time ago. The lens is incredibly sharp and still gets good reviews. Buy it if you can find one at a steal.

I am curious Amanda...did I miss something but everyone seems to be talking about 80-200 lens? and your question is about the 18-200 correct?

I think the question was about the 18-200, and I don't think they do. Only the higher f-stop. People got side-tracked.

You can still find the older Nikon 80-200 f2.8D on www.KEH.com for around $1000-$1100. Honestly I would only pay about $800 for a used one.

I guess maybe most of got sidetracked on this posting - the first one I read was talking about a Nikon 80-200,f2.8 and how she couldn't find one listed anywhere. That is what I was referring to, that I still had mine from many years ago??
Sorry if I missed something
