For those who loved the Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) motorcycles back before 1973-ish, (me for one), there's good news. Mahindra has purchased 100% of the brand some time back in August 2016.
From the stories I hear they plan to release the 500 to 750cc cycles in 2019.

ROYAL ENFIELD is in the US for a few years now , great looking retro bikes , just too under powered to be safe on the freeways . they need to revamp the power plan , late thirty design while keeping the look .

Thanks for this info, my first bike was a 1947 Triumph 500 hardtail. Ahah for the bikes of yesteryear, BSA, AJA, NSU, ESO etc. chase

Another great British named sold off, I beginning to wonder what is left.
My first motorcycle was the BSA Bantam 125, it started my long journey

Leicaflex , do a google for royal enfield , India saved the brand , they make the same bikes that the British made back then , they ended up with all the tooling from the defunct factory .India sold more royal bikes last year world wide then Harley did .

In 1954 I bought a 'bike in a box', a 1938 BSA C10, for 5 pounds. Somewhere along it's journey to my shed, the box must have been raided. The saddle was missing, along with all sorts of nuts and bolts and the silencer. I managed to cobble it together with bits from here and there, but alas, at 13 I was too young to get a license. A year later I got my provisional license on an old BSA Bantam 125cc, then after my father died I inherited his 1955 M21.
I guess you could say I still have a soft spot for the old BSAs (Bloody Sore Arse). Sad to see them go.

I work in Southampton and see electrical contractors vans signed up with BSA REGAL and it saddened me to know that the guy who held the rights to the BSA name had no intention on reviving the marque. Hopefully Mahindra will do okay.

Had a '72, 650 Lightning. Rode it from Ohio to mid Florida before starting back. Once you got those Lucas electrics figured out and how to use the "altitude control" they were great. 😉

I too had a Lightning, but a '65, with electrical system by Lucas "The Prince of Darkness". Then I got a 650 Triumph Bonneville. And the I got a 66' 650 Hornet. Still assisted by "the Prince of Darkness".
