Well this is what been doing for 5 years Events www.NoveltyPHOTObooth.com or www.bbnpb.com . Most printer will work for this its the paper. I like Epson or Canon best. Now its not the printer it cost of refill ink that cost. I bought a Canon MG 3620 for $30. great printer but ink cost more then $30. I got 10. for the ink. Then sold the printer for $25. with no ink.
I use a CISS system most of the time, external ink. Office Depot has great deals on printers now get one or two, I have back ups. I like 13 x 19 printers more money. I got one great deal at office depot a Canon MF 7610 all in one for $150. then CISS on ebay for $40. I get 90% of my refill ink on ebay great ink.
Paper the type of work you doing this is great paper http://www.ebay.com/itm/321533161059?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I also use Red River paper.
PCs and laptops what every you like I like game PCs fast.
Tethering is the best way faster. I use Canon two of them always have a back up.
I'm a green screen photographer use Green Screen Wizard and digital back drops. http://www.photography-lighting.com/green-screen-wizard-free-download.html

Perhaps other Epson owners can comment, but Ecotank seems to be aimed at office printing more than high quality photo printing.

I own one. Its the best thing since sliced bread for office work, but no better than crayons for color prints! Just NOT designed for that, in fact ANY 3 or 4 ink printer isn't very good at making images period.

Best of luck if you want to go the inexpensive route. The type of printer made for this task is a Dye Sub printer (search on that & B&H and/or call them for advice). I would avoid the cheap ones and suggest that to make various sizes, you'll need multiple printers. This adventure may well not work for you if you don't invest in quality up front and provide parents something of value and something they can't do themselves. Don't count on on-line sales either, you need to do get your sales AT the event. In this type of situation you WILL need power and this you might be better off with a desktop machine and larger screen as they will be less costly and induce more sales. Best of luck.

Dye Sub printer I have two but the paper cost to much. Always think of the cost to make the money. I use 8.5 x 11 gloss photo paper and give them a close of 8 x 10 or cut outs. It shows you on my web site www.bbnpb.com . Just get out there and get you feet wet. anGODbless
