Swarovski is hard to beat. So are Zeiss and Pentax.
I went to Wild Birds Unlimited, and Cable's I about 10x40 that was enough for me. I am a birder.

But only the models that have image stabilizing...
I would highly recommend that you call Eagle Optics. They can give you great advice on what would suit you best. They won't oversell you and they have a fantastic return policy. I've used them many times.
Vortex 10x42 or 10x50 would not get over 10 power, they are too shake, 42 of 50 lens will let in more light and let you see better in low light conditions. have a life time warranty.
Nikon, Cabels, base pro, are all good.

So in the Chicago area, you went to, say, Lane Bryant and they didn't have a selection of binoculars. Obviously, you don't want advice, you just want somebody to place a pair of binoculars into your hand without any need for research. Does your cellphone, assuming the whitecoats trust you with one, have Google? You are the definition of the word "troll".
Wow!!!! Check your BP man.....".and chill.
RJWallace, neither old age, strong opinions, nor the veil of the Internet is a sufficent excuse for being nasty. There is absolutely no reason to have expressed yourself as you did; you could have communicated your questions as to how hard the OP had really looked without being nasty.
And, TexasBadger, while I concur completely with your sentiment, you didn't have to follow him down his incivility hole to point out his unnecessary nastiness.
Now, can someone/anyone help me understand why this forum periodically breaks out into this type of meanness? Don't we get enough of that in daily life in today's America? Can't we simply enjoy using this forum to share photos and information about photography without resorting to personal attacks on people we neither know nor probably ever will know?
Why doesn't the administrator put a stop to this?!?!
Do yourself a huge favor and don't buy anything until you've tried image stabilized binoculars. If you don't, at some point you'll encounter someone who has them and offers you a look-see. You'll never see your own binoculars -- no matter how expensive -- the same way again. Canon has a broad range of models, and I dearly love mine, but there may be other makers out there. Just don't buy whatever you buy without at least seeing the advantages of image stabilization with your own eyes.

While a completely agree that there should be civility and respect on this and any other forum, I'm sure many have rolled their eyes at questions that could be answered if OP's only took a little initiative and energy to research topics themselves. The "I'm going to London..what should I take a picture of?" or "What lens should I buy to take a picture of a bird?" can be easily answered with just a teeny bit of research. Intellectual curiosity is a really important attribute to be successful at darn near everything. Grit, initiative, perseverance, and focus go a long way in finding out answers to problems. The question of what "binoculars should I buy?" is hardly vexing or complex. it's just lazy. One does not have to be "mean" to point that out.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just found their web site and they have a large selection of product.
take a look at the Bushnell legend HD 's. They are reasonably price and have an unconditional lifetime warranty. . Also very good customer service
You are right, of course, JosephSF. I rolled my eyes just yesterday when I read an "I'm going to London what should I see" post. But, loving London and having some time on my hands, I wrote back and asked if the OP could provide some more information on their interests in order for me to provide good advice. They never did and I let the matter drop. The point isn't that I am a saint or that people can't be as annoying as all get it in what they ask and how they ask it. The point is the there is no need for the rest of us to stoop to the level too often seen in this forum. A few years ago someone wrote in for advice on issues involving a lessened ability to hold a camera steady due to a neurological disease. A fellow UHH member wrote back and suggested the OP drink more alcohol. There really is no need for such meanness in this place.

Wow, you really are a a$$hole! I am originally from Wisconsin and you are an embarrassment to the entire state. Please go climb in your hole. This person is just asking for advice.
Now you see why they voted for Trump. They're very pissed off. LOL
Get the Canon 10X image stabilized. You won't regret the purchase
