I am a New-be in Astrophotography, just learning and have a new Nikon 3100 camera. And have been trying to take pictures of the night sky but no luck yet.. Will be needing some Help... on this?

Buy a book on the D3100, you can learn more from a book about your particular camera than from the onwers manual. For night shots, expeirment with a high iso and slower shutter speed.

Thanks for the quick responds but you are right and I have now 3 books. one on the 3100 and two on low-lit and Astrophotography and a couple of dvd's, They are helping me understand the procedures and a lots of the terminology used in this field.. I am guessing that I just need more time to play with it..

From my experience - read, play, read again, play, read again......
My experience is that I didn't fully understand all I read (Nikon tutorials) until I used the camera for a while.

Astrophotography?! Oh my goodness, I cannot wait to see some of your photos!! Welcome by the way. Rule of thumb for night shots is a fairly high ISO!

Welcome to the forum. You are correct that it may take time to develop the skill of astrophotography. But, hey, it's digital, practice is easy and inexpensive.

I just suggest you get out and practice on nights when nothing much is happening, then when something special comes along, you'll have mastered your camera and won't loose the opportunity to get some good shots!
