I am the original owner, purchased from B&H in august of 2015. ( have original receipt)
It has been out of the box for a few test shots and I have not taken it out in the field. Like new condition. Original Box etc etc.
I believe this lens has a 6 year warranty.
Asking 700.00 plus actual shipping within US only.

Just curious: Is the warranty effective based on the information on the receipt or on who registers the item with the manufacturer?

I have three Tamron lenses, two I bought new and registered; the 24-70 and 70-200. They require detailed information including name, address, the U.S. authorized dealer, date of purchase, and serial number. It's a 6 year warranty; the longest of any lens making company. The 150-600 I bought used and found from calling Tamron that I could not have the balance of warranty, as the lens had already been registered by the person I bought it from. It may very well be that you could register any unregistered lens with the pertinent information. I hope this helps your endeavor.

The warranty card is actually useless. It's all about WHO is on the receipt!
Either way, it takes no value from the lens. An L lens is an L lens. I personally would buy it with confidence! It's very rare to have problems! That lens has been in production for more than a decade. The bugs are LONG gone!!!

SORRY, THIS WAS MEANT FOR ANOTHER POST. PLEASE IGNORE THIS.

After the questions about the warranty, I checked with Tamron. The warranty is not transferable and must be registered at purchase with the original owner. I did register it with them when I bought it and it has a service number. That means I can send it to them for 6 years, but no one else can. (without pretending to be me).

In our conversation, Tamron told me they will do the firmware upgrades on it free for life, no matter who owns it. They also mentioned that there was a new update available that allows this lens to integrate better with the 5DSR. I sent the lens in for the update ( which includes all prior updates) and a check up, and it is back with me this morning. It cost me the original postage to get it to Tamron, and they updated the firmware, cleaned and adjusted it, and picked up the return shipping to me. A quick test this afternoon and it seems to be focusing slightly faster than it did prior to the update.

Some quick observations about this lens. At 600mm and wide open, it is sharp, but not tack sharp. (some call it "slightly soft") Stopping down helps this. At under 500mm is is quite sharp. My standard of comparison is the Canon 400mm L prime. The zoom capability is very good for framing the image when you take it, (to get the most from the sensor you have).

In practicality, issues of lens weight (if hand held), camera shake, and shallow depth of field need to be considered to use it well. You must pay attention to focus to get the best from this lens.

That said, you can get some impressive pictures with it hand held if you take the time to get to know it and use it to its fullest. Tamron also mentioned that the optical performance at 500mm and under will be the same as the new Gen 2 model. Sharpness at 600mm and vibration reduction are improved in the new Gen 2 model. All in all Tamron as quite helpful and easy to work with.

I am happy to email full size test images if you send me a PM. I have some with a 7DMkII and a few with a 5DSR that I had for evaluation..

yes it is.
I will try and attach some test images from today. Both are at 600mm.

The full frame is reduced in size to 800 pixels. and 100% crop on a section to show the detail.

The second image is handheld.

Here are two more images to show the "reach" of 600mm on a Canon 5DSR.

Th first image is with a 5DSR and 24mm Canon L lens to show the setting.

The second is a 100% crop of the porch of the small house with the Tamron at 600mm.

Personal check or paypal is fine. Please PM me if you are interested.
