i have a vanguard sbh 100 ball head on a vanguard at264 tripod and the ballhead is wobbly on the mounting plate. How do i tighten this up? I see a few screws under the mount which can be tightened with an allen wrench, but i really do not know what this will do. When describing the tightening procedure can you post a few pictures of the bottom of the tripod mount underplate so i will know what screw you are referring too.I thought you just turn the ballhead clockwise on the mt. center screw to tighten, but this does not work for me. Thanks!!

How far out is the center screw? Sounds like you have to turn it in. Look under the tripod top and see if it can be adjusted. I never saw a ball head that had screws for adjusting.

It sounds like you bought the tripod this way, and didn't install the ballhead yourself. I have the Model 50 head on a Tracker 4. I attached the head to a QR plate so I can remove it quickly if I want to. There is provision for a single screw to connect the ballhead.
The head probably attaches with a 3/8" screw protruding from the tripod. If there are 4 corner place screws on the bottom plate that is used to level the head once it's mounted.
so theoretically you can tighten the ballhead on the tripod plate by turning the ballhead clockwise . Is this correct?
I managed to tighten the ballhead as i had to lower the leveling screws and then i was able to tighten the ballhead and relevel it.Thanks for your help.

That's why we're here. I'm retired now but graduated from National Camera's Photo Technician course. Had my own photo equipt. tech shop. Digital came after that but I can answer a lot of those types of questions. If I don't know, I'll be honest about it.
