I'm looking to replace my Canon SX40 for a SX60...new at B&H at $479.99, one year warranty or (also at B&H) used for $369.95, rated a 9. If added the 2 YEAR PROTECTION service they offer from SquareTrade at $77.50, the total to $447.45.
Opinions, anyone? TIA
Check out the online Canon store. They might have a refurbished one with the same warranty as a new camera. I purchased a 7D an a 80D from them. A lot of people on this site buy refurbished...Rich
buying used if: 1. it looks new, has complete accessories, at least 1/3 off from new one and of course, works perfect. I also have question about some camera choice: I am using majority of Nikon body (start with D70, D80, D200, and now: D300, 90, 7000, 7100, 700, 800) and try some Canon (T2i, G10), Sony (A77, RX10..), should I stay with Nikon, then which one should I buy next ? or should I switch to Canon, then which one should I get among 5D3, 6D, 5D4 or 7D, 70D or 80D ? I am disappointed with Nikon focus, many of my shots got bad light, focus, or both, so I am thinking about trying Canon. Any advice ?
my nikon has served me well so it's up to you to switch or not. Never had any focus issues with my D3200 or D7100. I would have it checked befor deciding.
Thanks everyone for your input, I really appreciate it! I went for the new Canon SX60 from B&H, no extended warranties or extra protection service, just the regular 1 yr that comes with a new camera. I've had my SX40 for many years and never needed any service, even after a bad drop in a parking lot, still working! 😊 Thanks again!

Half dozen of one, six of the other. If your budget can stand what is a slight bit more expense to some of us (what is or isn't a "slight bit more expense" is always a personal decision), I would vote for the brand new camera. I also personally think either deal is a good deal and you will not lose.
Well done, Marilia. You will love your SX60.
