With good tripod yes...and for birding, you can perhaps get a bird who is patient to sit still long enough to lock the tripod onto it. Most of my shots are handheld.
My keeper rate drops precipitously once you go below 1/1200. All sharp at 1/2000, 80% at 1/1600. (Need to drink less coffee and calm down if I want to improve :-)
I have to say, this lens is really sharp, for the price you pay, once you get the settings right. F6.3 at 600mm and 1/1600 means you need to bump the ISO pretty high or be shooting in
a full sunshine....

Normally I am very satisfied with the bokeh created by this lens, but...on occassions it creates strange bokeh. Don't understand why or how.

I have posted 3 examples of good bokeh and 2 that I don't like. One of you smart, technical wizards" how about making me smart. What is the story that I do not understand?

Thanks in advance!

I think you're trying to do the job of a good lens with an inexpensive lens. My guess is that most of these are over-cropped which will compound an already bad Bokeh problem.
Also, the closer you are, the more OOF you will achieve, allowing the lens to produce what Bokeh it can.
You'll get what you pay for, there are NO shortcuts with lenses at those focal lengths!

I have a different answer, you need a very sturdy tripod and a shutter release, the slightest movement changes the Bokeh. .......A friend has one and never shoots at less than 1/2000 just for that reason.....

Please tell your friend that a tripod is not necessary at 1/2000 or 1/1600 or 1/1000 or.......
