I've had a camera in my hands since I was in Junior High School. I have always loved taking pictures and capturing moments. I'm ready to come out of amateur mode and become a professional. During the past 12 years I've had a Canon EOS Rebel 2000, Kodak Easyshare Z760, and a Canon EOS Rebel t3. The last two cameras were gifts from my husband, so I want to use them to improve my skills, and make he and myself proud. I'm a Canon woman. I am currently taking the online class called "The Complete Course in Professional Photography" at The New York Institute of Photography.
Welcome!
Looking forward to seeing some of your pics!
Welcome to the forum, Take.
If you're going to become an independent professional, you might want to look into some business classes as well. Not needed if you want to work for NAT GEO :)
Make yourself proud. Hubby will follow.
I've considered those classes as well. How are you liking them?

Great to have another Texan join this great group. Welcome to UHH.
Welcome Takeyourpic,
We can never have too many Texans on the forum. A lot of educational information can be gained from the members here as well, and it is freely provided.
I was born and raised in Texas, but since I've been in San Diego since 1993, I'm now a native Californian. lol
Most of my pics are family shots, and I haven't been able to go out and shoot with my Canon t3 yet because I broke my leg recently and had surgery to repair it. It's taking longer than I thought to recuperate, so I haven't even done my first assignments. I do have time to complete them though. I do have nice pictures of my swollen knee and other parts of my leg with staples in it, but I doubt if anyone would like to see that. LOL! I'm not fond of putting pictures of my family on the internet, so I'll try and search for other pictures. I wasn't sure if anyone else did. I think I'll bring my camera out with me when my mom takes me to doctors appointments. Something may catch my eye while I'm riding in a wheelchair. I'm still not able to drive yet, so that's my only way to try and take pictures until I'm in the clear. I will definitely post pics when I'm up and moving better. It's been ten weeks and I'm about to start physical therapy. I won't be able to bring a camera into PT to snap some great pics because I'll be in excruciating pain. My husband took pictures of our daughter's 8th grade graduation two weeks ago with my t3 and most of them are awful. A wonderful moment blurred forever. Anyway, I can't wait to post some pics so I can get some constructive criticism. In the meantime, I will read posts, and look at pics on the forum.
Thank you Gidgette. Cute dog!
Welcome the the UHH,Take! I pray your leg will heal quickly so you can get out and get some great shots!

I'm not far from you. I'm about 100 miles East of you. I used to live in Houston almost 20 years ago while I was attending The Art Institute of Houston. I've worked in radio and television back home, but the money wasn't good because the market was so small. My intentions were to go to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts (Film School) after graduation, but my parents weren't too supportive of me going to New York. They wanted me to live with them forever. Anyway, before my blood pressure spikes from reliving that mess, it's good to have family "Texans" on the forum. :D
