DFACS in error.

Check the story. The photog's one year old son with salmonella poisoning coupled with diarrhea and fever was being cradled by his father in a cooling shower. Compare the picture, which I find tender and lovely, with a bureaucrat run amok.

The Photographer Behind This Photo is Being Taken to Court ...

An intimate photograph of a father cradling his sick child in the shower has become the subject of a legal battle with the Arizona Department of Child Safety.
I don't understand the mind set which would accuse the photographer of putting the child at risk for posting the image to FaceBook. Note that the police declined to investigate. Sadly this sort of incident insults the majority of DFACS personnel who are dedicated, but overworked and underpaid. I hope that the photographer and mother of the child is vindicated and that DFACS offers her a full apology.

Same here, George. Unfortunately, I live in the area that CPS works. Some of their outstanding failures seem to have been covered only by the local news, if that. I will readily support that there are conscientious employees there. However, management levels seem to be a hit or miss proposition. Just check google for
Arizona Child Protective Service failures.

Yes, I think this is an overreach on their part.

I had some friends that were run rough shod over by Child Proactive Services. Their staff usually do not have adequate training and have way too many clients. I say usually that wasn't the case with my friend, they jumped to conclusions and made their lives really bad. It's the same here in the Rio Grande Valley

Yes, I've seen that story. Like the parents who were arrested because their kids were playing in the park. Ridiculous.

While I totally disagree with DFACS, it amazes me what people will post on Facebook.

Our youngest daughter works for human services here and you wouldn't believe some of the bull$hot complaints that come in. I firmly believe in protecting the children but some of these do gooder folks are just down right nuts!

That's true. That photo had no business on F/B

When my kids ran a high fever it wasn't into the shower with them; it was them into a luke warm bathtub.

When you described the photo, I imagined a father with a child cradled in his arms standing under the showerhead. Really surprised when I opened the actual picture! I'm amazed a parent would post this on social media. Most of us would agree that governmental agencies often run amuck...why give them fodder? Were there any adults in the room?

Be hesitant to blame the victim. Yes, some poor choices were made.
