I have never left, I still shoot film (besides digital) and film is and will be always my favorite medium (still and movie). Film can just not be beat (fun using it, ease of use, Image Quality etc.)!

Oh, and about giving away cameras, yeah, I would give away my 5D's, but my film cameras? NO WAY!!!

I have had them all: Linhofs, Rolleis, Leicas, Nikons. Alpas, Graflex XLRF's, and Zeiss Super Ikontas. I would not give up my Sony A57 for any or all of them. My desktop computer is the finest photo lab a photographer could want, and it is FREE. Feel free to blow holes in my thinking.

I would go back in some situations. I would process the film and then scan it to do the final image in the digital darkroom.

Most of the time, the availability of having an endless roll of film that is capable of changing ISO at every frame, is just too convenient not to use the digital. But for portrait work or in a controlled setting, where is my Hassie or Deardorff?

You clearly married well!

In '83, I hired her as an assistant. 18 months later, she left for another company (and still works for them!). We married in '85. She's a keeper.

Technically speaking, your computer is not really free, unless it was a gift. And then there's depreciation and upgrading.

Yes I have both a Minolta and a Sony bouth use the same lenes double the fun and I get so much more flexibility the film camera is full frame the Sony is 4 third so a 70 _210 is a 105_315 mm SO 4 lenses become 8 throw in a dobeler and you have 16 lenses OK later hand fun

No, I would not go back. The convenience of digital is just too great for me.

Not me. I have found that my results are significantly better in digital. Of course I take a lot more images as well. I won't attempt to correlate that thought.

I still have a 1970's vintage Minolta 35mm but I would never spend a dime for film to use it.
I'm Panasonic and Olympus micro four thirds equipped and would never look back.
Digital just has more going for it and film is just nostalgic.

I will bet that you avoid flat panel TV's and cell phones too.

What do flat panel TV's and cell phones have to do with the personal choice of the medium used to produce art? Then why use paints and brushes when you can use a Wacom tablet?

I still use film... have digitals too... there are things I can do in film that I can't do in digital... so it depends on what I'm doing. Would I want to do a model shoot with a film camera? no! but a building that I can over expose and get a whitewash effect, would not even attempt in digital. I have lots of film cameras and am looking forward to using Ektachrome when it becomes available. To those that want to just use digital... do what you want...

Go back??? I never left, nor ever thought of leaving.

Leica IIIf, Nikon F, F5, Nikkormat FTN, Nikonos, Bronica C, Bronica SQ-AM, Hasselblad 500C, Graphic View II, Rapid Omega. Nope, I'll never leave them. Same goes for my two Jobo processors. To say nothing of the enlargers I have.

I just added a few digitals, D700 and D800e.

Ditto - may ditch digital if new Ectachrome proves to be as good as the original.
