I laughed out loud at that!

Let me guess, lithium grease?

Actually no, graphite. I considered lithium, but then I did the research! This stuff is quite magical.

Both my mother-in-law, my favorite party animal of just 89 years, and we have 1950's era gas ranges. Hers got a gas leak on the pilot light valves, so I'm renovating them. I have consultancy help from her big brother who's a mere 92 and still has a gas repair business in Milwaukee. Vintage gas stoves are a little less complex than modern cameras, but getting it wrong can have consequences!

When you replace the off brand battery, make sure it had cells that come from Japan and not China. The quality control is significantly different.
