Thanks for the reply to my post. I don't thrust the Cloud to be the walk in closet for my images. It opens the door for someone else to see and or use them. Yes, I know they say that it is safe and this can't happen. I am not wiling to take that chance.
What happens when that CC ceases to exist?
I respect your decision to use what ever method you prefer.

The CC photographers suite gets downloaded from the cloud (and updates come from the cloud), but the cloud stops there. Your photos are not uploaded to the cloud (unless you choose to do so). They stay on your computer.

That's it for me. I don't use Photoshop shop and I won't spend $10 per month just for Lightroom. I'll continue to use Lightroom 6 until it's no longer practicable. At that point it will give me an excuse to get rid of thousands of images I will probably never view again anyway.
What he failed to mention in his whining is that for the $10 a month PS and LR are both included.

Call me old fashioned but I won't pay another monthly fee. I already do enough of those. It is kind of like paying every month for sweeping my floor. Sell me a broom and I will do it myself.

I like that attitude!
I own my house.
I own my Jeep
I own the tools in my shop.
I own my cameras and lenses.
I'll be damned if I will rent my software.
That's is just for me, and everyone else should do as they please.

For me, it's not so much the $10 as it is the trend. Everyone is charging now, for stuff that used to be built into your computer. Even Windows is going into the cloud with a monthly fee. Office doesn't come pre-loaded anymore. It's expensive along with everything else. I'm just sick of the hand being out for more money every time we turn around. And the sneaky stuff isn't helping-like windows updating to 10 even though you try to click the pop-up off, and instead they use that as an approval to go ahead and upgrade against your wishes. Then after they get you they are going to start charging. It's really awful!

I'm well aware of that. Please reread my post. I don't use PS so $10 per month just to use Lightroom CC is more than I'm willing to spend.

I get it. Some folks just don't trust it. I use Creative Cloud and MS Office 365. Instead of being stuck with dated software after a year or two you pay $10 a month and always have the latest and greatest. But that's just me. I've been doing online banking and buying stuff online for 15 years without a problem. I've had more problems with stolen credit card accounts than anything I bought online.
I moved to Capture One Pro a year ago in anticipation of this day.

I'm with you but I need it for business. There is plenty alternatives out there.

Your right...I spend better than $2,000 a year now in subscriptions, sure it's for my business and as some say just right it off ...well to those that say that, you give me the 2 grand and you right it off as a contribution :)

I am with you on that, I have lr 6 - love it. Also I live on a boat with unrealiable internet, another no no for cloud stuff, which like you I do not trust.
I have been using Lightroom for awhile version 2 I think and upgraded to newest version soon as it was released. I also use elements. The problem with the monthly cost for me is I have enough monthly costs to contend with. I don't know why Adobe cant support the programs and their updates for those wishing not to spend the monthly fee for CC? I will make the best of what I have until there are no options left.
right I have asked Adobe direct about this and await their response. Will keep you posted
