Hornitos is Spanish meaning "Little Ovens."
The Town of Hornitos is just a few miles from Mariposa, California which is where I live. Mariposa is Spanish for "Butterfly." During the Gold Rush days of the 49'ers, Hornitos was a bustling community. Here, the locals baked bread in little ovens and, by way of wagons, delivered fresh bread daily to the miners in Mariposa and surrounding towns and camps. Today it's a mere dot on most maps but holds on to its rich history; maintaining original stores, homes and ovens.

Very nice selections and compositions. I especially like #5 and, with a bit more PP it would almost yield like a painting....one which I would buy.

Thank you Ken! Always nice to see a new visitor!

Thanks for looking Rich! I spent about an hour. Most of the good stuff is in on the main road thru town!

Wonderful series of shots --- thanks for posting. Even though I live close by and have heard of it,
I've never been there.

Oh Bill, I love these. I had forgotten about Hornitos and what a haven for you. It's just the kind of thing - I as well - like to shoot. You used HDR perfectly - WOW what a way to start the morning.

These images appear to be HDR processed. Am I correct?
