Thank you, Jill Cline, for suggesting this forum as a great get away from the politics-ridden Facebook!

I'm a Michigan grandmother who can't breathe if I can't find something to photograph. I photograph a lot of bird feeder birds, red fox in our field whenever they have a litter to document, and my grandkids' sporting events.

I would classify myself as a camera addict, as I have a multitude of cameras around the house, each one with a specific forte' that it is best for. For wildlife I use a Canon dslr and a Tamron 150-600mm lens. If I'm out on a walk I will carry a Nikon P900 point and shoot because it has an enormous zoom and its lightweight, though the photo quality can not rival a dslr. For indoors I typically use a Sony A6000.

I know very little about off camera flash, and someday I hope to learn so I can do better portraits of the family.

Full frame cameras and expensive glass aren't in my budget, and I do suffer from gear envy, though I try to remind myself that the "best" camera is the one you have with you when the photo opp arises. :)

I look forward to perusing the forum, enjoying your photos, and learning something along the way!

I don't know what part of Michigan but if you are in the South East part look in to joining us at the Seven Ponds Photo Club in Dryden and are a fun and mentoring club. First Friday of the month at 7:00 PM We are not just nature photographers and go from some great point and shoot photographers to great pros and no one cares which side you are on.

Hi just trying, welcome to the group. Please, whatever you do, do not get equipment envy. And above all, to not go equipment crazy. I have been an advertising creative director and photographer. I have used all manner of equipment. Now that i am retired, i have only one camera, a Canon 60D with ONE lens...a tamron 16/300. So, just use what you have. And above all HAVE FUN.
