At the Great Dorset Steam Fair, late August last year. The three 'old boys' on the left are deep in conversation and the subject will be steam, for sure! Harrison Ford lookalike, complete with slightly bemused vacant expression (which he's doing rather well I think), is gazing into the unknown but, generally, this is typical stuff. Everyone enjoys themselves at GDSF. Hope it doesn't load-up too dark on UHH. Let me know your thoughts on this sort of night photography - I found it quite difficult, mainly due to people getting in the way!

I really like the contrasts of sharp and soft, and the rich colors. The men in their huddle is cool, not sure Harrison is doing much for me. Did you take any showing more of the steam plume?

I'm not really getting a sense of place - of the event. I imagine a series would help with that. For a single shot, the interest and impact is relatively small for me, though as I said there are elements that I find very appealing.

HF wasn't going to move any time soon, so he had to stay. Take your point about the steam Linda, but it was a whisper. I do have some that give more of the feeling you're after. I'll look them out. I particularly like the portrait shadow on the bus - from the old boy with his back to us. Didn't see it at the time though!

A good exposure considering the difficulties. I'm surprised there isn't more movement blur considering the 1/2 sec exposure.

Ah, nothing happens too quickly at the GDSF RG! Thanks for looking-in.

I love this photo!!! Love the lighting. Love the composition. Love the colors. Love the contrast between the main subject and what we know is happening in the background. The artist is showing the "good old days," a slower time, with old geezers actually talking to each other, one examining the oldie bus, perhaps in thought, perhaps wistful, of yesteryear, much to the distinction of the excitement that we can imagine is taking place elsewhere, with youngsters on wild rides, people on cell phones, etc.

I've never seen a steam bus before. I like the scene in general and the steam shooting out of the top is a fantastic detail.

Don't see many of them Erich but Sentinel made some pretty steam wagons. Thanks for commenting.
