I've done the same thing but never able to capture the same exact picture, even when I took both of them.
Ted, now in Florida.

Thank you very much, I think so little changes in Yosemite that I found the pictured area very easy.

how interesting to compare the then and now mike. your shots are beautiful...the trees have certainly grown.

Thank you very much. It looks like the 3 trees on the first image grew up a little.

That is very interesting, taken from the same perspective. Yup, looks the same, only the trees got bigger. Thanks for posting that interesting series, Mike. As always, have a great day.

It's nice to see at least in the second one that things haven't changed much. I'm sorry to see that in the first one it has been "cleaned up" and made more "people friendly." I like the original image better (not that the image is better, but that it looks more wild). Nice job, Mike.

Thank you very much, you are correct, that area is now a picnic area, I am sure when he took the picture there was not even a trail there.

Thank you very much Greg, wouldn't it be interesting to have some 100 year old pictures of Mt. Denali, if they exist, and compare it to today. I don't think much would have changed. PS. I am currently scanning some slides from my early Alaska trips, it's like re living it.
Take care.

Well, you certainly found a treasure at the flea market. You've done a great job at making comparison shots as well. Yes, trees are bigger and there is less water in the second picture, but this changes seasonally, but wonder if it is generally less now than then. I also wonder the value of your flea market find. I imagine that it is much more than you paid.

Very neat project, great photographs, and a lot of thought put into finding what looks like the exact spot for framing the images.

Thank you very much, I am sure the original was taking in the spring when the water was high, mine were taken in the fall. The person that bought the plates, there were 12 of them, made a few almost wall size for an exhibition.
