I have a number of PENTAX lenses, and all serve me well. Except one. Ever since I bought it, from Adorama, it has been poor to none in focussing ability. I rarely used this lens because of its' "PROBLEM". Optics are just great, and at one point, I just decided to use it always
"manually". I still would like to get it fixed, due to the fact that it wasn't a cheap camera lens. I've read reviews, and found that it is not an uncommon malady of this particular lens. Any one know of a trust-worthy lens repair facility, or have any ideas where I might get help, People have actually told me that "I need HELP".. come-back!! RJM
Camtronics here in Columbus, OH has been in business since the mid-70's. I've taken my Sony cameras to the a couple of times for work & had no problems. Check out their website:

One story I heard is that one of the other companies were afraid that if that particular lens were successful no one would buy their own copy, so they hacked Pentax’s computers and sabotaged the chips so it would not autofocus properly. Another story said it was the Russians, and still another blames China. Regardless, it is a fine lens, and I’d just continue using it manually.

Just buy a good mirrorless camera and adapter to use with this lens. Then it will be very easy and effective to use it manually and probably not cost more than try to repair the lens.
Have you tried "autofocus fine adjustment" menu c4.
oops.sorry, that's on the K3 if that's what you'vre got

I had issues with my 16-50 f/2.8 Pentax lens (as have many other Pentax owners) but it was out of warranty. I contacted Pentax USA, who gave me the contact info for Precision Camera in Connecticut. The charge, a couple of years ago, was around $280. They replaced the motor and circuit board. The lens now works but is still slow to focus. I find using a single focusing point helps.
Let us know how things work out.

Midwest Camera Repair on Oak St in Wyandotte, MI would be a good place to call.
Midwest Camera Repair is probably the closest they are in Wyandotte Mi. They fixed a lens for me and I was happy with service and price.
