As a business decision, I think it would be a big mistake to bring back Kodachrome. Its slow death in popularity had already began in the late 1980's when many photographers realized that the newly improved E6 slide films on the market were equally good, minus the processing difficulty nonsense that came with Kodachrome. Yes, initial sales for a reintroduced Kodachrome will likely be strong, but after a while people will give up on it once again (for the same reasons as before) - resulting in another generation of very expensive K-14 processing machinery on its way to the junk yard.

Maybe Kodak would do the processing. I could see a service where you send the film to kodak and they initially provide a high res digital download and you would get your negatives back in the post. How many rolls do they need to produce and process to make money? It doesn't have to be huge sales. Ectachrome makes good sense as its in demand from movie makers, Kodachrome would be a smaller market. There are 6 Billion people in the world how many need to shoot Kodachrome to make a viable market?

I know but it's hard to see one without the other; they did so much music together.

well, the E6 films tended to the blues in the colour pallete. whereas kodachrome tended toward the reds and yellows. both distinctly different and each wonderful in its own way.

Very true. When photographing a rose garden for example, kodachrome often generated more pleasing results, giving those warm colors extra vibrancy and pop.
