A while back, I got a very nice Panasonic razor. One problem I discovered early on is that the blades can become disconnected very easily when cleaning it. They have fallen out several times, and I found them all but once. Now I am shaving at half capacity. The razor cost a little over $100, and the replacement blades cost over $50. So, I ordered a new razor. Now I just run the razor under water to clean it - no more lost blades. This reminds me of the cost of printer ink - sometimes higher than a new printer.

Not the only place this seems to be an issue. We live in a throw away world and it is often cheaper to replace than to fix. Take popcorn are the movies, almost more expensive than the price of admission. All parts prices seem excessively high but once you are locked in you have little option. A washer the size of a quarter costs more than a quarter which is made of precious metals.

Actually, it doesn't help much in the winter. It tends to freeze up from humid breath.

Most people do not realize this. I quit shaving about 14 years ago. Shampoo it and brush it.... I do not even trim it.
Two years ago, after many years in the rotary Norelco camp, I wanted to try vibrating blades style but was worried that Remington was just hanging on through history alone. Then I saw the Panosonic Arc4, the price was not absurb, so I took the leap. Great shaves right out of the starting gate and its blades never fell out. There is a way to get them out, so maybe OP didn't seat them in good. My style is every fourth or five day do blade (them 5 bladed Gillettes) shave just to keep in practice.

Because of the high cost of printing photos using color ink, I don't do it. The problem, too, was that when I just wanted to print text pages my color ink would get used up as well, so I switched to a printer that used black ink only. Much cheaper.
Also, since retirement I've started skipping the irritation of shaving and grown a beard, which I keep trimmed to 3 1/2. Much cheaper, as well.

I thought about not shaving, but I don't want people to think that I'm old. I want to keep my boyish good looks.
Even with the Norelco, you need to replace the three blades every few years and they're not cheap either.
I bought a Norelco for less than a set of new blades for a Braun. Been using for 2 yrs.
