When doing macro photography what is your equipment and light set up? Post some examples.
Most of the time I use a digital camera with an old Hasselblad bellows and a Hasselblad 80 f4 lens. I may use the Hasselblad extension tubes instead of the bellows.
Outdoors I handhold and depend on ambient light. In the studio I use a tripod and studio lights with soft boxes.
These three photos were taken outdoors, handheld, ambient light without reflectors.
First two were taken with a Hasselblad 80mm f4 lens and the the third with a Canon 100 2.8 macro lens.
Photo 1 & 2: Water pump: First photo is water coming out of the pipe, the second are the bubbles from the water hitting the ground.
Photo 3: It was snowing and the snowflake landed on top of my car. No photoshop, edited in Lightroom.
Interesting shots. I like the snowflake. I use either extension tubes or a Nikon 105mm.
Love the snowflake, I use a Nikon 200mm macro.
The Bugs got me investing into a Nikon 105mm 2.8 macro lens.
Looking forward to get me one of those light rings someday, but for now I've been placing headlamps, 1 and 2 and 3 at once :D along with another lamp.. Now it's winter , and have no bugs, so I started looking for small object. And even winter, I am not able to do a shot like your snowflake , which I like a lot. We do not have have any freaking snow in Oslo.
I use a Sigma 180mm with a 1.4X TC if I want to up my magnification I'll add rings. I use stand alone small led lights as well as a monolight and speed lights.
Jim, have a look at the 'true macro' section.
There is a section there showing the setups a lot of us use and tons of great macro shots.
