Michael George was a very good singer and entertainer all over the world. Extremely famous in the USA in the mid 1980s through the 1990s. He was attempting to make a comeback, just as Michael Jackson did in 2009. Both were 50+ years old, carrying some previous social baggage. And both died young. Debbie Reynolds stated, when she would introduce herself to young people, she would say, I'm Debbie Reynolds, the Actress. No response. Then she would say, I'm the mother of Carrie Fisher. Now, a response. Everyone knew her from the Star Wars Movies. They never knew Debbie Reynolds was a renowned actress many years before her daughter. Carrie had problems too, but didn't need a comeback as the singers. She overcame her problems with herself, and her mother Debbie. CNN News gave constant coverage of Michael George's death until Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds passed away, just one day apart. That News took priority over Michael George.

Trust me most of us are saddened and shocked by his passing
I think a lot of UHH members are probably too old to really know who he was
We know. We just don't care.
Until reading this thread I'd never heard of the guy. Now that I've heard of him, can't say I'm better off.....

i'm afraid his music did nothing for me...but he did donate lots of money to charitable causes.
Did nothing for me either, but he helped a lot of good causes and some individuals as well I believe. A good egg!
I love his music and mourn him as I do all the other greats that died in 2016...
While I am old enough to be drawing Social Security, I am familiar with George Michael. 2016 was a year that took many very talented artists from us, but I can name more than a dozen musicians and other artists that were more talented than Mr Michael. For me, Leon Russel and Leonard Cohen top the list. But hey cheer up, Betty White, Keith Richards, and Ozzy Osborne are still with us!

I am surprised that the American people, as I see it, have not mentioned the Death of George Michael one of the biggest and best artist in the world. Why is this?
What makes you think it wasn't mentioned? It was all over the news. Your assessment that he was the "biggest and best artist in the world" is a personal opinion that is not shared my very many people. I'm one of those who didn't know who he was until the news told us he died and why we should care. I was more upset about Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.
American here and I thought George had great music and I saw a lot of coverage. I agree that Carrie Fisher and her mother's death over shadowed his. He will be missed. Cheers.
Just another druggie pop singer who made a lot of money. Think of all those who made more significant contributions for all of us who we never heard about without fame.
It has been all over our national news (all networks), in our newspapers, on Facebook, etc.
jpintn is correct. George was just another entertainer. Missed by some. Unknown by more.

Another reason to not like him.

Missed by who???
Hi Ken, not sure why you decided to troll this set of posts. Last I knew, it was about a person's question on why there wasn't more coverage of a mans passing. I enjoyed his music back when and am sad he died probably way too soon. As did a lot of people. Cheers.
